Winter Vacation in the Tropics – How to Pack for a Long Trip?
In winter, we usually choose ski or snowboard trips to mountain resorts. But more and more travelers are opting for exotic, warm destinations. Thailand, the Philippines, Zanzibar, and the Dominican Republic. Winter is the perfect time to head to these countries! How to pack for a long vacation? We give you some tips in today’s article!
We start with the advice not to leave packing to the last minute. Once you choose your destination and the purpose of your trip, check the weather there and what might surprise you. It’s good to prepare for different conditions. Asian countries tend to be cooler in northern or mountainous areas, while the coastal parts will be sunny.
What should you pack in?
The first question is what to pack in. Should you take a backpack or choose a suitcase? And if a suitcase, what kind – soft or hard? Large or medium? Before deciding, check what restrictions you have with the airlines. Do you have checked baggage included with your flight ticket or the tour provided by the travel agency? If yes, what are the size and weight requirements? This information will help you decide on the luggage to bring. Each carrier will also offer carry-on luggage, which can contain important items like electronic devices – laptop, camera, chargers, or essentials in case your main luggage gets lost at the airport and doesn’t arrive with you at the destination.
What must be in the suitcase?
Everything depends on the destination you chose and the weather there. If it’s a vacation in the tropics, don’t forget to bring:
- T-shirts with short sleeves or tank tops
- Shorts
- Dresses
- Washbasin
- Flip-flops
- Enough underwear
- One warmer sweater or sweatshirt
- Raincoat
- Long pants – preferably linen or cotton
- Sandals
- Another pair of comfortable shoes
- Hat
- Sunglasses
The number of items is individual. It all depends on the length of your vacation. Before packing, lay out all your items on the bed and combine them into outfits. This will greatly simplify your decision and help you remove unnecessary things that don’t match the chosen clothes. When packing, remember to roll your clothes. This will not only save space in your suitcase but also ensure they arrive with fewer wrinkles.
Cosmetic bag – a must-have for every woman
Which woman doesn’t want to take her favorite cosmetics? The cosmetic bag is definitely one of the most important items every female traveler will remember. What should a woman’s cosmetic bag contain? Besides a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, makeup and makeup remover set, hygiene accessories, don’t forget to bring lip balm (the sun’s heat causes chapped lips), insect repellent spray (especially useful for hiking or other activities deep in the country), wet wipes, and antibacterial hand gel.
If you have space, also bring necessary medications. Tropical vacations have their peculiarities, so it’s a good idea to bring medicines that might be useful for unusual illnesses. Don’t forget allergy, pain, menstrual, or electrolyte medications. You might need tablets for headaches, sore throats, stomach upsets, and something for insect bites. You may also need something for sunburns and bandages for injuries. Sunscreen with an appropriate UV filter is also a basic product in every cosmetic bag.
What else should we not forget?
Make sure you have all your documents, such as passport, driver’s license, plane tickets, and/or printed boarding passes. Documents should be organized and securely protected. It’s a good idea to make a copy of your passport and keep it in a different place from the original. Remember not to pack liquids exceeding 100 ml in your carry-on luggage. Also, do not bring sharp objects – scissors, knives, or corkscrews should be placed in checked luggage. This will help you avoid delays at security checkpoints.
